An Artist am I
A Master of line
A weaver of themes
A peddler of Time
Trompe L’oeil I create
Painting windows in stones
My tapestries tie up loose
Ends and unknowns
I’ll soothe you with color
Pastel’s softest hues
Or light you on fire
Igniting your Muse
I’ll leave you in stitches
(A seamstress I am)
Then rip you apart
With a swipe of my pen
And when I am finished
My signature’s clear–
On your heart, etched the words
A poet was here

This is very cute I love the rhyme. Your imagery is very colorful and I like the way you ended it. That is what all artists should do, is aim for the heart. That is how we achieve immortality.

Thanks Charles. Couldn’t resist rhyming this one 😉

The pace and meter of this hit my feeble mind just right. I love the way it moves along. And as someone who draws, I like the sentiment, too. I appeals to both the writer and artist in me. 🙂

I’m so glad it hit you right, Darc:) You draw as well??? I wish I had that kind of talent!

Thank you Paul:) Jaymie made me do it;)

Excellent imagery! You paint with pen, how true.
June 22, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Thanks Linda:) I wish I could paint, or weave, or sew, or do something that is considered “art.” But I can’t…so it’s paint pens for me 😉

“I’ll leave you in stitches
(A seamstress I am)
Then rip you apart
With a swipe of my pen”
Brilliant!

Joseph, thank you so much. That was my favorite line as well (I have a strange sense of humor;) Do you have a blog? I’d love to visit….
***Revision***
Apparently I am very tired. You are already on my blogroll. Seeing your name instead of your blogname threw me a bit. Geesh. Ignore me. Forgive me, Constellations;)

Every poet who has ever lived and plied their art and trade would agree with the wry accuracy of you words. Yes indeed, a poet was here. 🙂
June 22, 2009 at 8:45 pm
Thanks my friend. I’m so glad you could relate to the sentiment. 🙂
June 21, 2009 at 11:30 pm
Kudos!! Are you up for challenges or what? Keep it comin’!! I love how you tied together so many different art forms, an artist indeed!
June 22, 2009 at 8:47 pm
Ha! Yes, this one is all your fault. I seriously wrote this because you gave me a challenge to do so. I’m glad you did–I feel better now. Thank you:)

Hey, this is great.
Who would not want to be a
theme weaver
or a
time peddler??
June 22, 2009 at 8:49 pm
Hi Sandy–so glad to see you! Thank you 🙂
You know, perhaps I’ll include those titles on my resume. If nothing else, it will force a second look;)
June 22, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I think you’ve definitely got an ear for this.
And as for you bringing up a timely rhyme revival, I’ve actually noticed a lot more like-sounding end-words around.
Very uncanny 🙂

Hmmm…kind of like when you’re pregnant it seems the whole female population is too? That always made me laugh:)
Thank you:)

Very vivid imagery. Liked the it flows and touches me.
June 23, 2009 at 11:10 am
Thank you for the kind remarks. So glad it touched you:) Happy to see you here!

There are soo many lines in this poem that I love, but I think my favorite is:
‘I’ll soothe you with color
Pastel’s softest hues
Or light you on fire
Igniting your Muse’
I think it struck me because I can’t see great art or read great writing without somehow wanting to rush off to write/create my own, and this line just reminded me of that.

Courting-I love that this inspired you! Thank you so much for your generous comment:)

You’ve created a masterpiece in words!
June 28, 2009 at 11:18 pm
Thank you Bonnie! Not sure I’d call it a masterpiece but I am really happy you enjoyed it:) Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things after a week of nonstop running. I’ll be popping by your place soon 😉

Oh how I love this poem! The image I have in my mind is of a jester laughing while painting, writing, and weaving, something along the lines of Shakespeare’s Trinculo! Love it! I want to paint this poem!!
June 30, 2009 at 10:11 am
Paint it, Della!
June 30, 2009 at 11:13 pm
Happiness just seems to flow through your words! This is so rhythmic, so playful! Love this!
