holy cow this zings!!!
poignant as hell, yet funny
jack-o-laterns, all…
Just sitting here overcome. You are gifted to be able to do that with so few words. You do that to me often! You’re like the poetry jedi…light saber packed with letters grouping wild…
It’s easier to be a jack o’lantern than it is to be Cinderella. I love this cinquain! Kind of makes me want to know what words go through the pumpkin’s mind during the carving …
I finally remembered to look up the word ‘cinquain’! Had no idea they existed and am VERY excited to learn this. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! Cheers and Namaste.
Bliss, they are loads of fun to write! This one is kind of sub-par though–I don’t like the “for” dangling off the end there. But it was fun to write anyway:)
Okay. I’ve got my rule book out and on page 325 it specifically states that You are not allowed ever to refer to Your work as ‘sub-par’!!! Don’t make me come over there!

Awesome, Danielle. Oh to be the Pumpkin, whose forced smile only needs to last until the morning light! …

Oh yes–the pie! My favorite–warm, with vanilla ice cream. YUM.

Pumpkin envy indeed! Great job on this – and puts pumpkins in a whole new light.

“carved and gutted hollow”
This was very Boo worthy and it alternately creeped me out and made me smile.
November 2, 2009 at 11:39 am
“Boo worthy makes me very happy,” in a devilish sort of way, Val. Thank you:)

This rocks! Kinda makes me wish I’d carved a pumpkin this year..
November 2, 2009 at 11:42 am
We didn’t carve any this year either, Lisa. Good thing or I would have been haunted by my own poem. Yikes:)
November 2, 2009 at 7:33 am

November 2, 2009 at 11:43 am
!!! YES!
November 3, 2009 at 1:18 am
This is true, (and hilarious), however, after one night of faking it, the jack-o-lantern usually tends to go rotten!
November 3, 2009 at 10:30 am
Yep, they sure do, Azfree. Faking takes a lot out of you!
