The other day Azfree wrote a poem about bubbles, which happens to be one of my favorite words. Of course this started an obsessive thought train that leads me to this post. What are your favorite words, and why? I have always loved:
Bubble
Lollipop
Soliloquy
There are more but these are the words that pop (pun intended) into my head. I just love the way they roll off my tongue. Especially soliloquy. Say it slow. Isn’t it lovely??? Bubble sounds like a good joke. And lollipop is just plain fun to say.
So how about you?

Hey, you forgot minions!
I seem to have a favorite word each day. Most weeks I try to choose a new one to use in a sentence as often as possible, lol.

MINIONS! Yes, I love minions. I think it’s hilarious! I need to use that in a poem. Will work on that this week!

“Aposiopesis” is one of my favorite words, but if asked why I would just have to say …
October 14, 2009 at 11:47 pm
LOL Bill! I had to look it up, I must admit. I thought it was

Okay, I confess, my favorite word is a dirty one, and since this is a family friendly blog, I won’t repeat it. But it makes me laugh every time I think it – I almost never say it.
Yep, that’s me, still giggles like a schoolgirl at the bad words.

hmmm….you do know between you and Darc I am taking inventory of all of the bad words I know….LOL
October 15, 2009 at 4:49 am
My favourite word is…chocolate
October 15, 2009 at 7:13 am
Yes, especially when said with a French accent. It makes it sound less…caloric

I’m with Falcon on this one … I think my faves are all rated R or above. So … I won’t say anymore than this: I’m not profane, I’m a pioneer in linguistics.
October 15, 2009 at 7:14 am
A pioneer in linguistics!!! ROFL! Okay, let’s go with that!
October 15, 2009 at 8:49 am
I was always partial to facetious.

I love
w o n d e r
and in French,
emerveillement, and
emerveiller is “to fill with wonder”

OK, I am about to be super sappy, but my favorite word of the day is “Mommy.” Mostly because I like hearing my son say it but also because of the way it sounds, it just sort of flows and rolls of the tongue and can be recited with so many different inflections to reflect so many different moods.

whoa…my mind went blank!
i guess ‘pisha!’ is the word
that gives me much joy
I have a mouth like a sailor. It’s embarrassing. I just LOVE to swear and there are days the ‘f’ bomb leaps through a bit more of my conversation than people probably care to hear! Lord! So, in an effort to ‘grow up!’ and be more lady-like I started saying ‘PiSHA!’ as my explicative. It really is satisfying and is funny at the same time.

I have a clear memory of my all time favorite word to say popping into my mind one day as I turned into my driveway. Can I recall it now? Of course not.
But here are some other words that are fun to say:
chiaroscruro
specificity
tintinnabulation
serendipity
And I do love soliloquy.
October 15, 2009 at 4:18 pm
One of my favorite words is ‘undulation’. We used it a lot in my bellydance classes and it’s one of those words that sounds exactly like what it describes.
I guess another one of my favorites is ‘thingy’ cause I seem to say it a lot.
I don’t know any bad words so I can’t claim any of them.
Actually, it’s kinda ironic ,though, that on the Possibly related posts, one of the links is ‘What is your favorite curse word?’
October 15, 2009 at 4:37 pm
‘Supererogate” … a supererogatory way of talking about using too much effort for a given result!

Hi Danielle,
My favourite word: paraphernalia.
I know it’s not pretty but it makes me smile. When I was eighteen I worked with an old guy who had no teeth and he always managed to get the word paraphernalia into every conversation. It was his favourite word.
Imagine him trying to say it with no teeth. He made me smile every day and the word became my favourite too.

1. Agape – the Greek word for God’s perfect love.
2. Superfluous – and any more words would be just that… …superfluous.
October 15, 2009 at 8:35 pm
serenity ; )
aplomb
and nimble
October 15, 2009 at 9:54 pm
Soliloquy is a lovely word. I seem to have a bias for S-words: synchronicity, serendipity, synesthesia. I also love to say Pacha mama (mother earth), and heterogeneity – that one especially gives me goose pimples.
October 15, 2009 at 11:04 pm
Synchronicity is swell … but synesthesia makes me feel all golden and sweet … ha
October 16, 2009 at 12:43 pm

October 16, 2009 at 3:23 pm

This has just been way too much fun! Thank you all so much for sharing your favorites and your stories. I just may have to do something with all of this great stuff….hmmmm…
October 16, 2009 at 6:31 pm
“she’s violent in liquid clothing” has pretty much all the sounds I like in the English language, and all the letters too.
October 16, 2009 at 9:49 pm
very, very clever, Joseph!
October 21, 2009 at 3:00 am
this is probably silly.. but lobster. it rolls off your tongue and the ‘ster’ concludes the word MOST satisfactorily.
October 22, 2009 at 9:15 am
Hi Astrodominie (love this name)!
You should know I have been saying lobster for a good 10 minutes now. It’s the ER, you are right! Thanks for stopping in:)

haha thanks. the astrodominie is inspired by a pink floyd song. that, and my actual name just didnt allow for a snappy blog id.
